Broken Embrace, is by far, my favorite of the three embrace books. I love this story. Brian has been my all-time favorite character to write. Maybe because he’s been with me through all three books, maybe because he does everything so hard. He works hard, he loves hard, and he hurts hard. He’s passionate and caring and very, very upfront about everything. He’s a little aggressive and a little vulnerable and a lot of both sometimes.
Melissa…well, what can I say…she loves Brian. She’s always loved him. Try as she might, she just can’t move on without him. She pretended for a long time. She carries around this huge facade that screams “I’m over him” but it’s just a cover for her true feelings.
I never intended to write this story. Brian was a happily married man in the first and second book. Period. End of story. But when I put Melissa and Brian on a page together in Precious Embrace, they crackled. Seriously. They became their own love story and I couldn’t ignore the chemistry. The two of them just wouldn’t shut up once they were placed together. Their story and this book was very emotional for me. As much as I love Brian and Melissa’s story, I also fell hard for Erin and Matty. The entire story came together fairly quickly. Once I was finished, I handed it off to a beta reader and thought I was done, but then…but then, that beta reader suggested I tell Erin’s story more fully. She wanted to know more about her. And so, I added more details and a little more of the suspense plot. I think it came out great. Erin and Matty will get their own story one day too…more on that later.
